Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Swapping campaign for Battle royale?
No campaign in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. That’s the current word on the street. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will lack a “traditional single-player story mode,” but will possibly feature Battle Royale, according to two separate reports. Sources speaking with Polygon have said Black Ops 4’s lack of a single-player campaign came down to time constraints. “As Black Ops 4’s release date approached, it became evident that development on the single-player campaign wouldn’t be completed,” reads the report on Polygon. “One source said Treyarch has since focused Black Ops 4’s development on expanding multiplayer and the series’ popular Zombies mode. “The source described an emphasis on cooperative modes potential stand-in as a potential stand-in for the typical single-player campaign experience.” In a separate report, a source close to Charlie Intel has said a Battle Royale mode for Black Ops 4 will “fill the content gap of no campaign.” This could be the cooperative mode touched upon in the Polygon report. Black Ops 4 The Battle Royale mode is said to be in development with Raven Software, which has had a hand in every Call of Duty title since the original Black Ops. Back in March, investment firm Oppenheimer noted in a report Activision was “keenly aware” of Battle Royale’s popularity. The company also admitted it was a “faster follower,” so take that however you like. We’ll find out for sure on May 17 when Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is reveled during a livestream. Until then, as always, consider all of this a rumor. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be released on October 12 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
